                                                Peter Banks 2.jpg (446520 bytes)

Peter Banks competed at Waverley LAC  from 1981 to 1984.  Peter's father David was President from 82/84.  During Peter's time at Waverley, he won 2 Silver and a bronze medal at the State Championships in HJ and discus.

Originally from Sydney, he and his family returned there in 1985, and Peter continued on to win the Australian All Schools Long jump and Triple jump in 1989.  In 1990 he won the English AAA U/19 LJ and was a member of the Australian World Junior Team that went to Bulgaria.  Peter then won 2 LJ NSW Senior titles before turning to Decathlon in 1996, where he won his 3rd State Title.  In 1997 he won the National Championships and set a NSW State record which still stands today. He represented Australia in the World University Games in Sicily 1997 and also in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur where he finished 5th.

Injuries forced him to retire in 2000. Peter is now married and his daughter Charlotte has just started in the U/6s at Hornsby District LAC NSW.

Waverley Records:  No current records..........which just goes to show (as with Sonia Brito) that even if you don't win everything as a youngster, we all develop at different rates, and you can go on to achieve excellence through your youth and twenties....if you set some goals and "give it a go" !!!
